Memory palace technique

The method of loci (memory palace) can help with this test: mentally place each lit cell at a location along a familiar route. This converts abstract spatial positions into narrative anchors, which are processed by a different memory system (long-term episodic memory) and are more durable. For larger grids, try grouping cells into geometric shapes, "an L in the top-right" is one chunk, not four separate cells.
