How to use the Image Resizer
- Drop an image onto the upload area or click browse to select a file.
- Enter the desired width and/or height. Enable Lock aspect ratio to scale proportionally.
- Choose an output format and quality, then click Resize & Download.
Resize by dimension or percentage
Enter a specific pixel dimension to resize to an exact size. To scale by percentage instead (e.g. make the image 50% smaller), multiply the original dimensions by the percentage: a 1920×1080 image at 50% becomes 960×540.
When Lock aspect ratio is enabled, changing width automatically recalculates height to preserve the original proportions, and vice versa. Disable it to stretch the image to non-proportional dimensions.
Output format guide
- JPEG: best for photographs and images with many colors. Lossy compression; quality slider controls the tradeoff between file size and visual fidelity. Does not support transparency.
- PNG: lossless compression, supports full transparency (alpha channel). Best for logos, icons, screenshots, and images with sharp edges or text. File size is generally larger than JPEG.
- WebP: modern format developed by Google. Produces smaller files than both JPEG and PNG at equivalent quality. Supports transparency and both lossy and lossless modes. Supported by all modern browsers.
Quality setting
The quality slider only affects lossy formats (JPEG and WebP lossy mode). Values around 80-85% give an excellent balance between file size and quality for most use cases. Values below 60% produce visible artifacts; values above 95% give minimal size reduction over 100%.
Common use cases
- Resize photos before uploading to social media, email, or web forms with size limits
- Create thumbnails from full-resolution images
- Reduce image dimensions to improve page load speed
- Prepare images at standard sizes (1920×1080, 1200×630 OG image, 800×600)
