The UK's 2-year review uses corrected age for premature babies

UK health visitors use corrected age, not chronological age, when assessing development milestones for babies born more than 3 weeks premature, right up to the 2-2½ year review. This means a baby born 8 weeks early is not expected to hit the same milestones at the same chronological age as a full-term baby, and comparing them directly can cause needless worry.

The Personal Child Health Record, universally known in the UK as the "red book", has space to record both the actual birth date and the due date for babies born early, so health visitors and GPs can plot growth and development against the corrected timeline rather than the calendar one.
