The Lifetime ISA: £1,000 free money per year most UK savers ignore

The Lifetime ISA (LISA) pays a 25% government bonus on up to £4,000/year in contributions, that's £1,000 of free money annually. It has two purposes only: buying a first home (property limit: £450,000) or retirement from age 60. Any other withdrawal triggers a 25% penalty on the whole amount, which effectively means you lose more than the bonus. Open before 40; contributions allowed until 50. The LISA is one of the most generous UK savings incentives, and widely under-used.
